Dumfries and Galloway Council

 

The Economic Development Service of Dumfries and Galloway Council provides support to the regions businesses via its 4 Teams those being:

Business and Enterprise – providing sector support for Tourism, Food and drink, Renewables, Forestry, Events, Europe and Economic Intelligence and Strategy – of particular support through this team is the management of the Business Gateway Contract and Creative Clusters business advice – we are also working closely with Magnox to deliver the Beyond Chapelcross project.

Employability and skills – providing support for businesses for assessing skills and development training needs for workforce placement and working closely with un-employed individuals seeking access to skills development and placements in the workplace  

Strategic Projects – delivering strategic infrastructure projects in the key areas of Dumfries, Stranraer and CoReS (Gretna Lockerbie and Annan) working with businesses seeking to re-locate either within the region or from outwith the region.

Countryside and Environment – delivering the regions Core Path Plan, providing information on access, countryside and environmental projects such as the Biosphere.

 

The Service is lead by Ewan Green and we are delighted to have formed this partnership with the Chamber and further developing links between the Chamber and the Council to assist the regions businesses during continually challenging times
