Employing People Workshop
Dumfries and Galloway Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with Acas Scotland to deliver a half-day training event on Employing people.
Last year there were over 236,000 Employment Tribunal claims in Great Britain. Many of these
arose from inadequately documented employment contracts or a failure to follow proper employment
procedures.
This half-day course covers contracts of employment and managing misconduct, capability and employee grievances.
The course will be of particular benefit to those employing people for the first time or who wish to review their current procedures.
Session outline
- Written statements and contracts
- Pay and holidays
- Avoiding Breach of Contract
- Discipline and grievance procedures
Managing People for Growth
Managing People for Growth is a programme of 8 one day workshops, delivered in a flexible manner to help improve people management from a practical viewpoint and not simply to load delegates with theory.
The workshops are designed to be relevant, practical, fast-paced and action focussed and will encourage people managers to think more strategically about how people affect the direction of the business. The workshops are aimed at supervisory level and above and are designed to give candidates the knowledge and skills to effectively manage people.
The 4 core and 4 enhanced workshops are important focal points for getting new ideas and information. They also provide an excellent opportunity for networking, learning from others, and discussing key issues with fellow delegates. Case studies of Scottish companies are used and the focus is on workplace action.
Who Should Attend
This programme is aimed at a wide range of people, including new managers, more experienced managers who have had little or no formal management training, or as a refresher for already trained managers.

Delegates will have the benefit of hearing directly from representatives of, amongst others, Glasgow 2014 Ltd, Glasgow City Council, London 2012 and Event Scotland who will aim to provide practical insights into how Scottish businesses can benefit from major sporting events.
